PURPOSE:

The Global Protect VPN (Virtual Private Network) client allows remote access to on-campus network resources. This procedure will walk you through installing, setting up, and using the client.
 

APPLIES TO:

Rose-Hulman Institute issued machines, Windows, Off-campus
 

Global Protect VPN Client Setup

INSTALLING THE CLIENT:

  1. Open a web browser and go to https://gp.rose-hulman.edu.
  2. Enter your email address (username@rose-hulman.edu) in the Username field.
  3. Enter your Rose-Hulman network password in the Password field.
  4. Click Log In.
  5. You will see links to download the Global Protect Client.
  6. Select the correct version for your computer. Most computers, including all Rose-Hulman Institute issued machines, will use the Windows 64-bit client.
  7. Chose a location to save the file and click Save.
  8. Launch the saved installer. You will see the Global Protect Setup Wizard.
  9. If prompted enter a local administrator username and password to launch the installer.
  10. Click Next
  11. Click Next.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Click Close.

SETTING UP THE CLIENT:

  1. The Global Protect Client is in the system tray, click on the Gray Globe (). (You may need to click the Up Arrow to find it.).
  2. Enter gp.rose-hulman.edu for the portal address and click Connect.
  3. Enter your email address (username@rose-hulman.edu) in the Username field.
  4. Enter your Rose-Hulman network password in the Password field.
  5. Click Log In.
You will now be connected to the Global Protect VPN. You will be able to use all the network resources (including DFS and printers) as if you were on campus.

USING THE CLIENT:

  1. The Global Protect Client is in the system tray, click on the Gray Globe. (You may need to click the Up Arrow to find it.)
  2. Click Connect.
You will now be connected to the Global Protect VPN. You will be able to use all the network resources (including DFS and printers) as if you were on campus.

TURNING OFF THE CLIENT:

  1. The Global Protect Client is in the system tray, click on the Gray Globe. (You may need to click the Up Arrow to find it.)
  2. Click Disconnect.
