Managing Allowlists and Blocklists in Outlook/Exchange

A list of individual addresses or entire domains that you want to explicitly allow (allowlist) or block (blocklist) are called Safe Senders or Blocked Senders. Formerly managed in our Barracuda spam firewall, or "rhspam", you can now manage these lists directly in Outlook.:

1. Launch Outlook

2. In Microsoft Outlook, select the Home tab. In the Delete section, select Junk, and click Junk E-mail Options.

3. Choose one of the following options.

  • Use the Safe Senders tab to list addresses or domains that will never be treated as junk e-mail.
  • Use the Blocked Senders tab to list addresses or domains that will always be treated as junk e-mail.

Any time email from a sender lands in your Junk Email folder, you can add their address or domain to the Safe Senders list to prevent future e-mail from that sender landing in your Junk Email folder. Similarly, email from any address or domain on your Blocked Servers list should always end up in your Junk Email folder.
