Available Wireless Networks

Rose-Hulman was two wireless networks available:
  1. Eduroam is Rose-Hulman’s primary wireless network which is encrypted and provides full access to the Rose-Hulman Network. Wireless devices should connect to eduroam whenever possible. Eduroam is available at many college campuses both in the US and internationally.
  2. RHIT-OPEN is Rose-Hulman’s unsecured wireless network used for guest access and by devices that do not support the encryption used by eduroam. Examples of devices that may not support eduroam’s encryption are some TV’s, some game consoles, and any other wireless device that doesn’t support enterprise 802.1x wireless encryption. RHIT-OPEN is not encrypted and offers limited access to the internal Rose-Hulman network.
Follow the appropriate set of instructions below to attach to the correct network for your device.

Connecting to the RHIT-OPEN Wireless Network

Before connecting to the RHIT-OPEN network, the device should be registered in the Clearpass Device Registration Portal. If a device is connected to the RHIT-OPEN network before it is registered, it will be considered a guest device, and will have limited Internet access. If the device wasn’t registered before connecting to RHIT-OPEN, forget the network and then reconnect.
  1. Follow the instructions below to register the device.
  2. Select the RHIT-OPEN wireless Network.
  3. Click/Tap Connect.

Register Your Device

Once you have connected and authenticated with the eduroam wireless network, the last step is to register your device. To start the process, open a web browser to any site and follow the steps below. If your device doesn’t have a web browser, such as a game console, you will need to go to the registration page on another device or contact the EIT Service Desk to manually register your device. If you are connecting from eduroam, your browser should be redirected automatically.
  1. Connect to the Clearpass Device Registration Web Portal: https://clearpass.rose-hulman.edu/guest/auth_login.php
  2. Enter your username and Rose-Hulman network account password, and click Log In
  3. Click Create Device
  4. Enter the device’s MAC address and a description for the device
    1. If you have trouble locating the device’s MAC address, please visit the Rose-Hulman Knowledgebase using the link listed below.
  5. Click Create Device
  6. Disconnect from and then reconnect to the network (i.e., disable and reenable your Wi-Fi) and you should be online.
That’s it, you’re done! Note that some browsers may cache the registration page, so if you're continually directed to the registration, try a forced refresh (Ctrl + F5 on some browsers) or clearing your browser cache. If that doesn’t work, you may need to reboot your device.
