If your laptop is stolen, the first thing you need to do is inform the local police department and RHIT Public Safety so that a police report can be filed.

You must obtain a copy of the police report and bring it to the EIT Service Desk to complete an insurance claim form. You will not be able to file the claim until the police report has been submitted to EIT.  You will also be responsible for a $750 insurance deductible.  Once the claim has been submitted and the deductible paid, your laptop will be replaced within 2 business days with a laptop of equal value.

To avoid future laptop theft, don't leave your laptop alone and unprotected.  If your laptop is in your car, always lock your car and put your laptop or backpack in the truck or out of sight.
